The Fall and Rise of Dõv One of Dõv's greatest periods of learning began in June 1990, when he reached for a rock while free-climbing at Brandywine Falls in British Columbia, Canada. The rock dislodged and, at that point, so did Dõv's life. Dõv fell 120 feet, which is the equivalent of twelve stories, and landed on his face at an estimated speed of 70 mph. The impact shattered most of the bone structure of his face, disintegrating some of his upper jaw, and fractured his lower jaw in four places. Because of the severity of his injuries and the consequent inability to eat solid food, Dõv lost 50 lbs. in three weeks. He received heavy doses of morphine, which caused painful withdrawal when no longer prescribed. Before the fall, Dõv had spent many years building an impressive reputation as a dynamic speaker and teacher in the field of human development, but now he was ready to embark on an even higher journey of enlightenment.
